Finnøy Gear & Propeller is a family owned company that for more than 135 years has evolved from being a local production workshop to today's company that operates worldwide.
The company is a leading developer and manufacturer of turnkey propulsion systems for modern shipping. Our product portfolio consists of gears, propellers, nozzles and remote controls that are characterized by high quality throughout the value chain.
Finnøy Gear & Propeller is located in modern production premises on idyllic Finnøy, close by Ålesund in Norway. The Finnøy team consist of 55 employees at our head office in Finnøy and sales office in Ålesund. In addition, we are represented through an agent network in North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and South- Africa. Our vision is to create tailored solutions for advanced ships, with a continiuos focus on meeting and exceeding customer expectations both in precision and efficiency.

Ever since our early days in 1884 we have been specializing in the development of propulsion systems for oceangoing vessels across ship types.
Statement of due diligence assessment 2024
The purpose of this statement is to describe how Finnøy Gear & Propeller AS addresses human rights and decent working conditions in accordance with the Transparency Act. For us, responsibility and respect for human rights are fundamental principles in our operations.
Finnøy Gear & Propeller AS produces gears and propellers for vessels, with its headquarters located on Finnøya in Ålesund municipality. We have developed ethical guidelines and established an effective whistleblowing system through our employee handbook.
We are committed to ensuring that all our employees, as well as employees of our suppliers, have decent working conditions in accordance with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and applicable legislation at the production site. To minimize risk and uncover any undesirable conditions, we have implemented the following measures:
Continuous risk assessment for human rights violations.
Conducting investigations when there is suspicion of human rights violations.
Evaluating the results of such investigations and implementing necessary measures.
Our suppliers are primarily located in Norway or Europe. We maintain regular contact and conduct visits to our major suppliers to ensure that our requirements for decent working conditions are met. Many of our suppliers have been our partners for 30-40 years, which gives us a thorough understanding of their operations.
Our due diligence assessments have not identified significant risks of negative consequences in our business or supply chain. We will continue our systematic work with due diligence assessments to identify and address potential risks, thereby ensuring sustainable and responsible operations.
